Located in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province.
Primary Equipment:
Includes a steam cracker with an annual ethylene production capacity of 1 million tons, along with multiple downstream production units for consumer-market products.
The first batch of facilities is scheduled to commence operations in 2022, primarily producing engineering plastics and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The entire base is projected to be completed by 2030.
On April 21, 2022, Nanjing hosted a signing ceremony for major investment projects and regional headquarters of central state-owned enterprises. Jiangbei New Area secured nine projects with a total investment of 36.63 billion yuan, including the Yangzi BASF Integrated Phase 2.8 Project.
The Yangzi BASF Integrated Phase 2.8 Project plans an investment of RMB 2.925 billion. Key construction components include: Expansion of the existing ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol (EO/EG) plant’s PEO unit; New construction of Propionic Acid 3 (PA3), propionaldehyde 2 (PALD2), ethanolamine 2 (EOA2), ethyleneamine 2 (EEA2), and tert-butyl acrylate (TBA1) units. Current and post-expansion production capacities of Yangba Company are detailed in Table 1.
Table 1: Current Production Capacity and Post-Completion Capacity

Given the current production conditions and market supply-demand dynamics, Yangzi BASF requires further adjustments to its product portfolio and optimization and extension of its existing ethylene value chain. In accordance with the strategic deployment of Sinopec and BASF, Yangzi BASF has initiated the construction of the integrated Phase 2.8 expansion project.
Yangzi-BASF Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as Yangzi BASF) is a large petrochemical enterprise jointly established by Sinopec and Germany’s BASF. In September 2001, the company commenced construction of an integrated petrochemical base, achieving full commercial operation in June 2005. In September 2009, the company initiated its Phase II project, expanding the steam cracking unit and the existing ethylene oxide plant while constructing new facilities including an ethylene oxide purification unit and new production units for the ethylene oxide derivatives value chain. Commercial operations commenced in January 2012.
