The BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Site is a comprehensive chemical production base and BASF’s largest overseas investment project to date, with a total investment exceeding €10 billion. It is independently constructed and operated by BASF. Upon completion, it will become BASF’s third-largest integrated production site globally, following the sites in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Antwerp, Belgium. Construction commenced in 2019 and is scheduled for completion by 2030. The core facilities of the Zhanjiang site include a steam cracker with an annual ethylene production capacity of 1 million metric tons, complemented by multiple downstream units. Products serve industries such as automotive, construction, high-speed rail, electronics and appliances, food packaging, household and personal care, aerospace, and pharmaceuticals.

Additionally, the construction scope includes: – 66/83/200,000-ton-per-year ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol/refined ethylene oxide units – 215,000-ton-per-year nonionic surfactant unit – 500,000-ton-per-year polyethylene unit – 2×190,000-ton-per-year isopropyl acrylate units – 375,000-ton-per-year butyl acrylate unit a 100,000-ton/year isooctyl acrylate unit, a 500,000-ton/year butanol/octanol unit, a 50,000 standard cubic meters/hour synthesis gas unit, an 80,000-ton/year (100% basis) neopentyl glycol unit, an 110,000-ton/year formaldehyde unit, a 40,000-ton/year citral unit, and supporting utilities and auxiliary facilities. The project uses naphtha and n-butane as feedstocks to produce ethylene, propylene, benzene, toluene, xylene, cracked fuel oil, isobutylene, and other downstream products.

BASF’s primary production sites are located in Shanghai, Nanjing, and Chongqing. By the end of 2020, BASF operated six major production bases across Greater China, comprising 27 manufacturing facilities. Among these, SDPPump manufactures the SDPPump ZA series—specialized pumps for large-scale refining, ethylene, PTA, and coal chemical industries—providing efficient and stable equipment to multiple plants.
